VSL Kicks Off Construction of New European Center for Flow Measurement

The National Metrology Institute VSL has officially broken ground for its new European Center for Flow Measurementon the Rotterdam Maasvlakte. This facility, which offers a flow rate six times greater than VSL’s existing site in Dordrecht, will utilize modern technology to perform highly accurate calibrations for a broader range of liquid flow meters.

These calibrations are becoming increasingly essential and must be executed with greater precision due to the rising costs and scarcity of liquids, such as clean and safe drinking water. The European Center for Flow Measurement is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2022.

Fabienne van Booma, Managing Director at VSL, opened the celebratory ceremony on the Maasvlakte, attended by a select group of guests, and described the occasion as a milestone for both VSL and trade and industry in general. Van Booma stated:

“Innovation is not possible without scientific measurement standards. With the realization of the European Center for Flow Measurement, VSL reaffirms its leading position in metrology. Moreover, we make a significant contribution to strengthening the innovative capacity of the Netherlands.”
